Once upon a time...
a group of people decided to take action...
In 2012, a group of people from a local San Antonio church decided they wanted to make a difference in the community. Together, they formed a group within the church, called Project Purpose. It was the goal of the group to reach out to those in need, those who were broken and marginalized, or those who had fallen on hard times. Through the year that followed, the impact of the group grew and together they decided to form a nonprofit called The Mercy Coalition.
The Mercy Coalition worked to revolutionize the way San Antonio served those in need...
to see lives transformed through service to others...
and purpose found through the love of Christ.
Wherever. Whenever. Inspire hope.
In March 2017, God moved big. After becoming increasingly aware of the tremendous amount of people with intellectual disabilities living on the streets, a co-founder of The Mercy Coalition felt pressed to continue a project that had long since been on her heart: An all inclusive community for adults with special needs, where they too, could use their own unique gifts and talents to make an impact in the world. The members of the group had been working professionally for years within the special needs community and felt equally as pulled to do something about the lack of meaningful, purpose driven care for people with learning differences. Through God's mercy and intervention, this member was called away from her "paid" work as the CPO at a nonprofit that focused on special needs, and together the group reincorporated The Mercy Coalition to become Southwind Fields.
